The general principles set out here apply to the other types of battery which the charger can handle. I have focused on two types of rechargeable battery - NiMh and Li-ion as these are the ones garden railway modellers are most likely to encounter and those which I am presently using in my locos. This is not intended to be a comprehensive explanation of all the features inherent in the charger - but hopefully should be sufficient to get you started. Having been using an iMax B6 charger successfully for around five years, I feel confident enough to share the knowledge I have accumulated by putting together this little introductory guide. However, its versatility can mean that its operation seems very daunting for the uninitiated, particularly as the manual tends to assume the user already has a fair amount of background knowledge. It is versatile, cheap and very effective in safely handling all sorts of battery types. The iMax B6 battery charger has undoubtedly become the most widely used charger in the world of radio controlled modelling.
